Creative Inspiration

With my current job requiring my creative services Monday through Friday 9-5 with class dispersed in between, I’ve stumbled upon an unforeseen obstacle with being a graphic designer..

Staying inspired.

Sitting in front of a monitor for most of my day staring at the same project most of the time, it’s easy to go numb to the idea of my work being interesting or up to par with the caliber of work I hope to aspire to.

Here’s 4 websites that I enjoy visiting when I start to feel a little stagnant. It helps me go “oooOOoo” again about design. Anything that makes you make that sound is doing something very right.

David Airey's Blog
David Airey is one my favorite graphic designers and bloggers. His style is honest and clean, two attributes I hope to achieve with my work. He never fails to inspire me.

UCreative.com
I recently stumbled upon this great collection of graphic designers sharing some of their work with others in this online graphic designer communitiy. When I need to a variety of visual stimulation, this does it for me.

Logo Pond
I’m in love with logo design. But the thing that interests me even more is the process that goes into great design. LogoPond is a great source to see design in action, logos that have changed and improved. Even some first drafts can be stunning.

NotCot.org
NotCot.org is a great place for random visual inspiration. You can find everything from packaging design to commercial development. Sometimes, something off the wall can help inspire what you’re working on.

A great iced caramel macchiato and some rockin music also helps me stay focused.

What do you do to stay inspired or focused on your work? This doesn’t have to only pertain to design. Trust me, I could use the ideas.
