My Personal Business Card
Big day for me. I got my very first business cards in today!
I used a 16pt stock which I couldn’t find very easily. I printed with 4over.com. They were speedy, accurate, and easy to deal with. They do require an account approval. But the prices are excellent. I went with a matte/dull finish which I was happy with. Most business cards tend to have that UV coating that reflects too much. I definitely am a matte kind of guy.
Pretty exciting. I’ve always wanted to be able to talk design with someone and be able to follow up with a business card to reinforce my interest and love for this art. I’ve come to realize that especially in this business, networking plays an important role. A conversation with an old friend about your work and business card in their hands can generate job opportunities for you in the future. Maybe their boss is looking for a designer they can trust or a family member is looking to get work done. If you make the right impression, you’ll be the first person they think of. And if they’ve kept your business card, then the circle of life is complete.
Well maybe the circle of design.
These came out better than I had hoped. Would love to hear your thoughts and critiques.

Hey, nice work! Good clean design. I like that you have your logo by itself on the grey side. Helps make an impact. I think “handsome” about sums it up
Hey thanks.
Handsome. I like that.
Lookin’ good. It may be too late to suggest an email address from your new domain. You can always forward it to your gmail… perhaps the next batch.
Also, I noticed your dirty trick to get us all to notice the wood finish with that unnecessary 2nd image.
Business cards may not be such a bad idea to have if I ever wanted to do some consulting.
Thank you sir. I did consider an email for the new domain. But I actually find myself enjoying seeing a gmail account as a contact. Does it add a more personal touch? Hey. I don’t know. Who really does anymore?
But I think you may have a point. Design@philchairez.com does have a ring to it.
And as far as that wood goes, gorgeous isn’t it?
thanks for the comment.
they look great bud! where did you get them made? I would love to hear your insights related to my design work for heartprints & Siegel Innovations, as well as your recommendations for cards as stylin as yours!
later,
B
Hey Brian,
I got these printed at 4over.com. They are pretty efficient with printing as long as you work them correctly. Customer service could use some help. But overall I had a good experience.
Checked out your sites. Very smooth. My taste tends to lie in the clean and professional realm. And those fit right in.
As far as business cards go, two things come to mind you must shoot for: a sturdy cardstock & use of both sides. For me those are two things that can really communicate professionalism. I’m sure I can help out with any ideas you may have for business cards.
Just let me know.
I’m really digging the use of white space.
